Hello! And welcome back to Tablet Raven! Where you will always find THE LATEST information on tablets and the best Kindle Fire!
To complement the review, Will and Norm have an in-depth discussion about the merits of Amazon’s new Kindle Fire HD 8.9 tablet. Here, its features and usability are explored, and the tablet is compared with other competitors in the category. Watch our Kindle Fire HD 8.9″ tablet Review here: www.youtube.com
Best Kindle Fire?
The bezel size is GREAT because it lends itself easily to the confines of an otter box (unbelievably good damage control). The video search for just prime content is warranted but the Prime selections are easily shown in the right hand selection box.
The stereo sound is amazingly good (Dolby audio!!) and separation is very high quality. When used with an otter box (highly recommended) the speakers will never be covered by your fingers and the otter box actually improves the quality by spreading the sound throughout its enclosure. This one of the main reasons we call this the best Kindle Fire.
Approximately 13 minutes into the review they discuss the “reader merits of the Kindle Fire 8.9 HD. I personally own the Kindle Fire HD 8.9″ 4G LTE Wireless Tablet ad free model and going from landscape to portrait and back is extremely fluid with no lag at all. They obviously are using an ad supported model for the review and I suspect it’s not the 64 gig version. The page fonts are extremely readable in both modes.
Around the 15:10 mark in the Best Kindle Fire review they discuss switching orientations and claim that it is jerky. We have NEVER experienced that and I would suspect they have a bad demo unit. I’m astonished that they didn’t suspect that at with their considerable knowledge of Kindle’s in general. Then again we are testing with version 8.1.4 (best Kindle Fire in most critics minds) and Amazon is always updating the user experience.
And using the grab and pinch or grab and expand (zoom) feature is flawless on our model. Very slight redraw to make sure the rendering is proper. By slight me mean under a tenth of a second. Again I think the particular Kindle Fire HD 8.9 they are using may be flawed.
Again, here at Tablet Raven we are not sure why they are so fixated on the power button. We feel that most users will be using some sort of physical protection mechanism (such as the famous Otter Box) to protect their device, thereby making the power button a non-issue.
Not until they are 29 minutes into the video do they say they are using the 16 gig wifi only version supported by ads. Again we use the top of the line Kindle Fire HD 8.9″ 4G LTE Wireless Tablet to balance the review. We feel that if you are a heavy Kindle user you should have the best Kindle Fire!
All in all we feel that the 4G LTE version is AWESOME and excellent as a consumption device, although in a review we will post later we will discuss the merits of using it for creative/learning purposes, of which there are many (especially for the toddler set!)
For comparison purposes look to the Surface Pro Tablet, the Galaxy Note tablet, the VivoTab Smart tablet, and of course the Ipad Tablet.
