W700  the Windows 8 Tablet value leader?

The W700 has all the power of an Ultrabook and the specs to match.  Though their are some trade-offs. This windows 8 tablet has a slightly washed out screen, although this may be due to us being spoiled by all the new IPS+ screens we see on other competitive tablets such as the Surface Pro tablet, or the Samsung ATIV Smart PC Pro 700T tablet,  or the HP ElitePad 900 Windows 8 tablet. tablet. If you don’t need the Wacom digitizer functions then this is probably the Windows 8 tablet for you.

Let’s define the “digitizer” function a little better.  If you are using a digital pen for drawing or for entering numeric calculations or Photoshop, this windows 8 tablet will not register the different amounts of pressure you push down on the pen. On normal Wacom enabled tablets (and most Windows 8 Pro tablets are Wacom enabled) the pen “measures” the amount of force you are pushing down with and the software adjusts to either thicken the line you are drawing or the paintbrush you are using. This “digitizer” function is critical to the creative folks.

Two last thoughts. This tablet is the only Windows 8 tablet we have seen that ships with the dock, sleeve and keyboard, which is a big plus. Second, as with any tablet purchase with Windows 8 Pro installed ALWAYS opt for the 128 gig of storage or higher number. You’ll need it to install of you favorite applications.
